STRAIT

The Carquinez Strait, the section of the Sacramento River as it passes between Benicia and Martinez on its way into San Pablo and San Francisco Bay. For twenty years I have lived on the Strait, and I paint it as it is a part of each day — morning, mid-day, and dusk. When it’s hot and when it is raining. A stretch of water that many pay no attention to, seeing only the bridge that gets them from Point A to Point B. Or their attention goes to industry that has been here for many years. However, those that live here and look know the beauty of the Strait — the hills that plumet to the waters edge, the marshes and creeks under an ever-changing broad sky.
